4th of july was so much fun. monday morning i was browsing around at some camp sites online and found one open spot up in estes park so i immediately booked it. we left wednesday morning and spent the day hiking, horse back riding & eating yummy food.
first was the horse back riding. little did we know the horses we got to ride were famous. sombrero stables owns 2,000 horses that have been in movies like cowboys & aliens and a few others.
after we went horse back riding we were driving through town to get to our campsite and spotted the sybrowksys of all people so we met up with them later at bear lake
after bear lake we headed back to our campsite, only to be stopped by a family of elk trying to cross the street. this lasted probably 30 minutes. cars were stopped all along the highway to take pictures of them.
we finally got to our site, got everything set up and got the the hog dogs & s'mores ready only to find out that we couldn't have an open fire due to all the wild fires around us so back to town we went to eat some of the best pizza we've ever had. looking back i'm glad we couldn't roast because we didn't leave reeking of smoke.
i thought i had remembered everything, but forgot the most important thing: pillows! needless to say, beau and i were up every hour of the night talking and finally took a walk around 5 a.m. by the end we were so delirious i couldn't stop laughing. it was a night to remember that's for sure.
as we were heading home we pulled over to this gorgeous 'look out' spot and beau found a few friends so we grabbed some chips out of the car and ended up with a crowd circling around beau watching the show
although there weren't any fireworks to remind us of the fourth we had a great time camping and are looking forward to hopefully returning soon.
