day 2 - belize city
a few people told us that when we got to belize we should go to caye caulker, which is more of a beach area, unfortunately we didn't have a ton of time so we stayed in the city and took a city tour. surprisingly, i loved learning about the history of the country.
belize was originally a small maya city before founded by british lumber workers. the british ended up settling in belize and brought over african slave workers. that's how the country began and now belize is the only english speaking country in central america. just like lots of central american countries, belize is staying alive thanks to the cruise ship tourists.
anyway, every port we went to we tried to stock up on plantain chips. if you haven't had them before, you need to! they are much healthier than potato chips and in my opinion taste 100x better.
